The ASICS Grasshoppers is a youth running club hosted by the Columbus Running Company. With three distinct seasons for the kids to take part in, it's our goal to expose the next generation to the love of running.
Since 2012, the Grasshoppers youth running club has been helping central Ohio kids to fall in love with the sport of running.
The Grasshopper program is made up of three seasons: spring, summer, and fall. The summer season is our intro-level program, suitable for any kids going into grades 3-6, regardless of their ability level. With locations across the region, the summer season is an ideal starting point. The spring and fall programs are for experienced young runners, and these seasons are geared towards prepping them for middle school and high school cross country.
Our spring season, like our fall season, is a more advanced program for kids looking to push themselves. The spring team is open to young runners in grades 3-6, and we'll be racing a schedule of 1-2 mile races. This season is suited for experienced runners and kids must already be capable of running 2 miles in order to take part. We host one spring location, bringing kids together from the area for a fun, competitive season with a focus on racing.
The summer Grasshopper season is geared towards everyone from beginners to experienced runners. During the summer, we host club locations throughout central Ohio, so there's always an option close by. The summer club practices twice a week, participates in several optional races, and is designed to guide the kids into a lifetime of running. The hour-long practices are a mix of running and active games, with lessons sprinkled into the mix. This is a great season for first-timers, experienced runners, and kids looking to build speed or endurance for other sports.
Autumn means cross country, and the Grasshopper's fall season is all about off-road racing. The cross country team is open to young runners in grades 3-6, and we'll be racing a full schedule of 1-2 mile races. This season is suited for experienced runners and kids must already be capable of running 2 miles in order to take part. We host one fall location, bringing kids together from the area for a fun, competitive season with a focus on team competition.
