Setting the Course: How CRC's Andy Harris Plans for Race Day

This is the second installment in a two-part series on the Columbus Running Company’s race timing and event management division. The first post can be found here. * * * For race directors like Andy Harris, creating a race concept can be an exciting challenge. Transforming that concept into a fun, safe, and well-received event, however, is a completely different ordeal. One of the first things a runner or walker wants to know when they hear about a new race is where the event will be held. And while there are a lot of great places to run in central...

Why CRC? CRC is a wonderful local company run by great owners and staff. The CRC family is knowledgeable, caring, inspiring and always seeks to make the customer experience a great one. It's fun for me to be able to help people with general running/walking needs and those who are looking to achieve more. Where’s your favorite place to run in Ohio? There are so many great places to run and I like good scenery. In Columbus, Highbanks Metro Park is fun and the paths through New Albany are great too! Favorite running shoe & why? I've always liked the lightness and...

I coach cross country and...

Why CRC? I stopped in 2-1/2 years ago for the grand opening of the Short North store. I started chatting with an infamous Eric Fruth. I still haven't left that store. Favorite place to run in Ohio? Around my wife's mind, but it can get scary sometimes, so then I head to Alum Creek where it can be a bit more tame. Favorite shoe and why? The Brooks Cascadia because it's the best shoe ever. You can use it anywhere, for anything. You put the shoe on, and the rest of your day just somehow happens. Fun fact? I actually secretly...
