Ready to Run Fast? These 5 Shoes Should Help With That

With spring in full swing, it means racing season is in full effect. CRC has great options for shoes of all kind, but here we'll discuss the five fast shoes you should get on your feet to chase those PRs.

adidas adizero Sub2

You want light? This is the shoe for you. The adidas adizero Sub2 is the lightest option out there with the latest and greatest technology from adidas. The bottom of the shoe is covered with a full Continental Tire Rubber for added grip and durability. When race day comes and you want to use the cheat codes to make it feel like your feet are floating, the adidas adizero Sub2 should be your pick.

Nike Zoom Fly

The brand with the Swoosh has a great pick if you're looking for a more versatile training shoe that can handle all your speed on race day. The Nike Zoom Fly offers a bit more cushion to save your legs from pounding while also featuring a nylon-infused plate in the middle of the sole. This gives the shoe a rocking motion during your stride to help you remain as efficient as possible. The Zoom Fly is a similar version to Nike's super special Vaporfly 4%. With the Zoom Fly you'll find a price point $100 lower than the Vaporfly and a shoe that is at least 3x more durable. CRC tip for this one: consider bumping up a half size from your normal running shoe!

New Balance 1400v6

New Balance continues to churn out a solid and reliable racing flat year after year. This remains true with this year's version of the 1400. Made with a lightweight foam and strategically placed rubber on the outsole, this option will be great for workouts and races as you get your legs moving quick.

adidas adizero adios 3

The adizero adios is a classic shoe at CRC and is currently the World Record Marathon shoe, meaning someone (Dennis Kimetto) ran a 2:02:57 marathon in a pair of these at the 2014 Berlin Marathon. Not quite ready for 26.2 miles in the 4:40/mile range? No worries! The adios provides great cushion to handle the marathon distance for anyone but can also handle all the mile dashes and 5K races you can throw at it.

New Balance 890v6

The New Balance 890 also fills the role of a multipurpose shoe in your arsenal. It features enough cushion to be comfortable for the marathon distance, but features a set of TPU beams in the forefoot to give your foot some extra "oomph" as you chase faster times. The upper fits like a sock and gives you a worry-free lock down on race day.
Available in-store only at your local CRC
