New Shoe Review: Transcend 4 from Brooks

Along with the Ravenna 8, Brooks updates another support model at the beginning of 2017. The Transcend enters its fourth iteration and continues the trend of super soft stability.

The Details

Let's decipher the all the tech talk to better understand why this might be the right shoe for you!

The Transcend 4 implements Guide Rails on either side of the foot. These help to keep your foot going straight forward and prevent excessive rolling from side-to-side. To provide extra stability, the Transcend 4 adds in a Pebax Heel Counter to prevent excessive motion from initial impact all the way through toe-off. These two features coupled with a wide base on the Brooks "Universal Platform" means the Transcend 4 offers fantastic support for over-pronators.

The cushion in the midsole contains Super DNA, which is a 20% more cushioned ride over the already luxurious Brooks DNA cushion in their other models. The upper material that wraps around the top of your foot is made with 3D Fit Print overlays, which means you'll have a secure and seamless fit to ensure you don't feel any pinches or slips while you get your miles in.

The Run

When you slip on the Transcend 4, you'll probably be impressed. Yeah. It's that comfortable lacing up. Go ahead, stand up and walk around. Pretty darn supportive, huh? Running miles and miles in it feels just as good. With a plush, supportive underfoot feel and colors like Black/Electric Brooks Blue/Silver (men's) and Peacoat/Iridesium/Lime Punch (women's), the Brooks Transcend 4 should be added to your list to try on at your neighborhood CRC.
