New Shoe Review: Bondi 5 from Hoka One One

Footwear Launch Hoka One One

You want cushion? You got it. The Bondi 5 is the highest degree of cushion that Hoka One One offers. Whether you’re walking around town or training for a 100-mile race, this shoe will handle whatever you throw at it.

The Details

The Bondi 5 features multiple engineering marvels to make it extremely cushioned and protective against the impacts of running on harder surfaces. The midsole (the whole “cushion” part of the shoe) is made entirely of EVA foam, which remains light and soft. The upper material is made with what Hoka calls 3D Puff Print. This material increases durability, cuts down weight, and makes sure your foot stays in place as you roll through your stride.

Let's discuss that “rolling” thing. Like other Hoka models, the Bondi 5 continues to make use of the brand's signature Meta-Rocker technology to get you from landing to toe-off as comfortably and quickly as possible.

The toe box gives you ample room so your toes don’t feel cramped. The Bondi 5 also comes in wide widths, so if you know that you need a wider fitting shoe with more cushion then this should absolutely be one to check out.

The Run

Ever run in a Hoka before? If you have, then you know all about the unique feel—the max cushioning cradling your foot and the Meta-Rocker shape propelling you forward. Haven’t tried one on yet? Then what are you waiting for??? Drop what you’re doing and visit your nearest CRC to experience this shoe for yourself! The Bondi 5 is one of those shoes that you feel must be too good to be true. The cushioned yet lightweight feeling under your foot is unmatched and stays that way mile after mile.

The Bondi 5 is available in Virtual Pink/Blazing Yellow and Medieval Blue on the women's side, as well as Black/Formula One and Cool Grey/Midnight Navy for men. Hoka did a fantastic job with this update and it should be on your list for go-to shoes if cushion is what you crave.
