The Brooks Ravenna has been a classic shoe at CRC for many years and the ninth version of the shoe is no exception. This light stability option rolls in at $110 and is a great choice for those looking for anything from a cross training shoe, walking shoe, general training shoe, or racing shoe.
The Ravenna 9 gets quite a few major overhauls to improve your run.
1. Upper. The upper is now made of a seamless, perforated mesh material which aids in flexibility and breathability. Say goodbye to annoying hotspots or seams on your toes.
2. Outsole. The bottom rubber portion of the shoe takes a more performance-oriented turn to make you feel light on your feet. The middle of your foot is propelled through your stride with a transition zone to help from heel strike to toe off.
3. Midsole. Brooks continues to use a gel and foam blend to provide the right blend of cushion and pop off the ground.
4. Weight. The women's version weighs in at 8.2 ounces and the men's weighs in at 9.3. This takes almost an ounce off of the previous version while maintaining the same amount of cushion and support!
Also, have you ever wondered where the name of this shoe came from? Wonder no more! Brooks is located in Seattle, Washington and Ravenna is a neighborhood in the northeast part of the city. Come for the shoe review and stay for the geographical knowledge!
I'm serious when I say that this is the best Ravenna to date. It fits like a glove and is just so darn comfortable. Visit your local CRC and check out this reimagined classic or shop online!
