- FAQ -
- What is the Buckeye Challenge?
The Challenge is a series of distance races in Ohio that individually
serve as the USATF Championship event for their respective distances.
The top finisher in each race from the Ohio association of USATF will
come away as the state champ.
- What is USATF?
USATF stands for USA Track & Field. USATF is the governing body for
track & field, road racing, race walking, and cross country in the US.
You can find more info at USATF.org.
- What is USATF Ohio?
USATF Ohio is an association within USATF that governs events and USATF
members within the majority of the state of Ohio. You can find more info
at www.usatf.org/assoc/OH.
- Why aren't races from NE Ohio included in the Buckeye Challenge?
The state of Ohio is split into two different USATF Associations, with
the northeast falling into the Erie Association. Anyone is welcome to
run in any of the series races, but only USATF members who are part of
the Ohio Association can be eligible for jackets and awards through the
Buckeye Challenge.
- Do you have to be a member of USATF Ohio to win a
championship in a certain distance?
No. However you must reside in the USATF Ohio region. This region
includes all of Ohio except the NE. Region details are at
www.usatf.org/assoc/OH.
For example, if at the Columbus 10k a person from Indianapolis finishes
first and a Dayton resident finishes second, the Dayton resident would
be considered the 2009 USATF Ohio 10k Champion.
- What will individual winners receive?
A USATF Ohio medal and recognition, plus existing prizes from each
individual race.
- What is the Run Ohio Grand Prix?
The Run Ohio Grand Prix is a broader series of top quality races from
across the state of Ohio, including events in both USATF Ohio and Erie
Associations. All of the races in the Buckeye Challenge are also a part
of the Run Ohio Grand Prix.
