Join us for the 2012 Fantastic Frigid 5k's! Music, grilled hot
dogs, hot chocolate, cash prizes, award winning pies, silent
auction, giveaways, and perhaps a lot of snow are just part of
the fun!
Use the links above to find out everything you ever wanted to
know about the Frigid 5k's.
Keeping in line with the CRC Charity Fund mission, the only group who profits
from the races is a charitable cause - in this case, towards the
development of the park and the Bellepoint Youth Athletic
League.
The Frozen Tundra:
The entire 5k takes place
within Concord Park. The vast majority of the course is on a
thin crushed gravel trail. A small portion of the race is on
grass trail, and pavement is only touched over a couple road
crossings. The park is small for a 5k, so some overlap occurs.
It's great for spectators.
Spikes are allowed, we recommend 1/4. In the event of snow, the plowing of the path will not likely
occur- however it is up to the discretion of CRC. We're not
afraid of a little powder.
Mile markers will be placed and a finishing clock will be
present. DRESS EXTREMELY WARM. YOU CANNOT DRESS TOO WARM AT THIS
PLACE. IT IS OHIO, BUT FOR SOME REASON THERE IT FEELS LIKE
ANTARTICA, BEFORE GLOBAL WARMING.
The address is 6299 Home Rd, Delaware, OH,
43015.
Important Details:
- Pre-race number pick-up begins at the DUBLIN CRC on January 10th. Race
day registration and number pick-up begins at 8:45am.
- Swag?
Yes, races give this stuff away. Often shirts, hats, or
something similar. They call it ‘goodie bags’, ‘Swag’, or ‘free stuff’.
What are you going to get when you sign up for this race? Well, first
off mother nature is going to slap you silly for three miles straight.
She’s got cold hands. You’re going to get a few odd looks from people in
toasty cars as they pass by. A couple lucky participants may get a new
hole in their running pants courtesy of the woods of death. Everyone
will get a little extra snot on their lip. Courtesy of your own nose,
hopefully. Best of all you’ll get a heavy dose of pride. Oh, and as a
bonus we’ll throw in a nice, well shaped and ready
for liquid pint glass for those of you who do both races. Booya!
- Cash prizes for the top 3 males and top 3 females. ($50, $30,
$20) Invest is some winter gear from the CRC!
- Delicious, round pies are age group awards for age group winners. 19&U, 20-29,
30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+.
- Overall winners and age group winners of the 'Series
Challenge' wins a $35-off a pair of shoes gift certificate to
the CRC. Series Challenge combines the time of both races. It
takes us math idiots a few hours to figure this out.
- Post-race refreshments usually include hot chocolate, water, fruit,
bagels, and a CRC favorite, grilled-on-the-spot all-you-can-eat
hot dogs. Can you eat more hot dogs than minutes in your 5k
time? Yes!
- Music will be played before, during, and after the race. Shake
it down.
- A silent auction will likely be held for shoes and other prizes.
Depends if it's above or below zero that day.
- A Porta-John will be available at the course. We stock it with
extra TP.
-
Kids race is free. Simply turn in a waiver.
It's no more than 300 meters. All finishers will receive a medal.
- Free parking is available at the course. Otherwise Concord is
just like Columbus. (?!)
- Please arrive no later than 9:40.
- For your sanity, DRESS WARM!
- We are not held responsible for and snow or ice on the course.
2012 Results and pictures are posted!
Well done! |

Race preview video! It's a few
years old, and we might change the course slightly, but it's good
for a refresher...
