December 2009 Tat of the Month

Wally Squier -  Determined Newlywed, Manchester, CT

What women doesn't like a man with some cojones? Here we have Wally. He turned in his tattoo in September. In October he was getting married. It was a gift from his fiancé. The fiancé he proposed to on the Eiffel tower. His wife gets the idea of them each getting tat's after they are tie the knot. But why wait, says Wally. I think I want to qualify for Boston, too.  You know what, I'm saying too much. Let's let Wally do the talking:

I am a 55 year old runner from Manchester CT. Been running off and on for about 25 years. I'm a member of my local running club Silk City Strides. I'm getting married 10-10-09 (for the third time). Anyway my soon to be wife came up with this great idea that for a wedding gift we pay for the other to get a tattoo (neither of us had one before). I know this is a long story and of course no need to print the story I just wanted to give a little insight. Ok back to the story. In may I took Cathy to Paris and asked her to marry me while having dinner at the Eiffel tower. I'm happy to say she said yes. So because of that trip we had planned to go locally for a couple days after the BIG DAY. Anyway Cathy has a brother in Vancouver that she had not seen in many years. So we decided to plan a trip in early 2010. Being a so so runner I checked the net and sure enough 5-2-2010 Vancouver popped up. I know this is getting pretty long but I am about done. So I figured run Vancouver 2010 Qualify for Boston 2011. Which is where the idea came from and thanks to Body Graphics in South Windsor CT and a idea here it is. Special thanks to Mike at body Graphics' for the T&F symbol in the sole of the shoe.. I wanted the symbol somewhere on the shoe he came up with the sole of the shoe for the soul of the runner..

Yup, I had to read it a couple times too to take in this story. They're going to go visit a family friend in Vancouver in 2010. It happens to be on the same day as a marathon.  Wally decided that would be a good day to qualify for the 2011 Boston. Determined and confident, Wally gets a tattoo for the 2011 Boston marathon. Brilliant! You can't make this stuff up. For the record, you have to be an excellent running partner because I think you could tell stories for miles. We appreciate the submission, congratulate you on your new wife and on having the first ever Boston 2011 tattoo, and wish you the best of luck with your running.
