November 2009 Tat of the Month

Natalie Strachan -  Girl on the Run, Houston, TX

This is a great submission. Not only is the artwork worthy of a CRC Tat Championship, it's fresh. We love it when it's so fresh the skin is still nice and red. Just a reminder that Tattoos, as well as Tat Champions, are forever.  Here is what Natalie had to say of her submission:

Hi, my name is Natalie Strachan and I'm a runner with Bay Area Fitness in Houston, TX. I got this tattoo, entitled "Girl on the Run," on my birthday - 9/10/09! The tattoo runs down my ribs on my left side. Most people, i.e. non-runners, don't understand why I got a runner, but to me it symbolizes determination, dedication, and mental and physical strength. Never in a million years did I think that I would ever be a successful runner and over the past two years I have worked my butt off to finish 6 half marathons and two marathons. Running is all mental. It's convincing yourself after four hours of running in the heat that your body can take another hour despite barely being able to move your legs. It sounds cheesy, but this tattoo will be a constant reminder that anything is possible if you put your mind to it. In 20 years when my knees are too damaged to run or I'm too busy to train, I'll look at that tattoo with pride.
