February 2010 Tat of the Month

Mike Gilmore - Open Hearted, New Port Richey, FL

This month the Tat contest was the hottest it's ever been. There were many submissions that easily could've been chosen. In the end, however, we had to follow our heart.  It's the love for running that counts around here, but what put Mike over the edge was the shout out to his wife as well.  Here is Mike's submission to go with the glorious artwork.

"I got this tattoo about two years ago. My chest is ripped open and you can see my love of running. Inside you'll find a runners bib pined to my heart. My wife, Christine (my support system), is the one who thought of the idea. The tattoo artist, Johnny Spinoso, took a generic bib, some pictures of "ripped skin" tattoos and some thought. This was the result. The picture is the best I could get, but the detail is incredible. I had to come up with a number for my bib. I wanted the number to have some significance and meaning. It is our and wedding anniversary (November 2)."
