June 2010 Tat of the Month

Leslie Bladen  - Peaceful Runner, Baton Rouge, LA 

Ironically this months tattoo champion is similar to last months. It's a growing tattoo! The more she runs, the more art she'll have to get done. We like it! Take a look at her picture above and description below. Then check out the other great work submitted this month. 

 "This marathon tattoo is a work in progress. This is what it currently looks like. I started this tattoo in January of 2010, about 3 weeks before I ran my 3rd marathon. The meaning of 26.2 is obvious. The olive branches in the background symbolize the peace of mind that running brings me.  Olive branches also have historical significance with marathon and the Olympics; they represent accomplishment or victory to me.  Every time I run a marathon in the future, I will add an olive, and branches as needed.  The most recent picture has 3 olives, and it was updated in April 2010. I plan to have this tattoo "grow" around my leg by simply adding branches and olives to wrap around like a thigh band.

This design is original and meaningful. I described what I had in mind to a close friend who is both an artist and a runner, and she drew it for me."
