November 2009 Tat of the Month

Dan Lee - All or Nothing, Gladstone, OR

According to Dan, when he puts his mind to something, it can be an all or nothing affair. It definitely was when he decided it was time to turn around his life and shed some pounds.  Here is his submission:

"In August 2008 I weighed nearly 300 lbs, had high blood pressure, cholesterol, sleep apnea, the whole deal. I made a commitment to drop some pounds, get a little exercise, and try to eat a little better. Well, as I tend to do, I got a little carried away.  So 14 months later and 110 pounds lighter, I finished the 2009 Portland (OR) Marathon. I could have won a whole bunch of money betting people in August '08 that I would finish a marathon EVER, let alone in just over a year, but I got hooked and what can I say....it just sorta happened," wrote Dan.

We aren't sure marathons 'just sorta happen', it takes some serious dedication. Now that part about getting hooked - we can't explain it either, we just it just sorta happens. Back to your story.

"The tattoo of the Phoenix represents my rebirth as a healthier, stronger, and balanced person. The date of the marathon is across the top, and the 26.2 is obvious," Dan wrote. Perhaps one of the better parts of the entry explains why he didn't include his time.

"I thought about putting my time on, but I plan on breaking it next year!" Hope it happens, Dan. Either way great job on loosing the weight and changing your life!
