Paige
Biglin
High School: Possible, likely
College: Kalamazoo College, Vanderbilt
Who I am and my Career: I started running cross
country and track in junior high in Toledo where our two coaches
made training a lot of fun. When I changed school systems for
high school I joined the cross country team to make friends and
I actually still keep in touch with almost all of those
teammates now. I also ran track, and despite putting in all the
summer miles and working hard I was never very good, though I
had a lot of fun! I wanted to run in college but was nervous
about moving up to that level. After choosing Kalamazoo College
in Michigan I received an email from the coach complimenting my
recent improvements and encouraging me to join. I was really
flattered. I found out a few years later that my mother had
contacted him first to tell him I was interested but timid. I
made some improvements in my cross country 5k times (still
nothing spectacular) and because we didn't have a track team,
ran some longer road races in the spring. I improved a lot my
senior year and when I moved to France for a teaching job, I
joined the local running club. I trained with some fast French
women and ran cross country, track, and some road races. Again,
it was a great way to meet people! I've spent the last few years
back in school working toward my master's degree in
speech-language pathology and training on my own. Although I've
managed to cut a lot of time off my results, I've missed running
with people. I'll graduate from Vanderbilt this May so along
with a new job, I'll be working toward running some new PRs!
Highlights: ran three years varsity for
Kalamazoo College (studied in Spain my junior year) and
graduated in 2005. I finally made second team all-MIAA my senior
year. Competed for Montlucon Athletisme in Montlucon, France in
2005-2006 where I just missed qualifying for. I finished 3rd at
my hometown Glass City Marathon in 2007, and 2nd in 2008 with
hypothermia (not my best moment)!

Christine Collins
High School: Jackson High School
College: Denison University
Who I am and my Career: I have been working at
Nationwide Children’s Hospital here in Columbus for almost two
years now, helping teenagers quit smoking. I hope to go onto
medical school sometime in the near future…I continue to cross
my fingers. I miss running collegiately terribly, but have been
thrilled to continue running with many of my college teammates
and competing (off and on…) for CRC. My favorite CRC memory was
being able to compete at Club Nationals in 2007, despite not
running that fast. It was a blast to be able to spend the
weekend with other running enthusiasts like myself! I believe in
running quality miles and not tacking on too much extra. Balance
is key. Keep it fun. I'm on facebook, as well.

Star Emmert
High School: Jackson High School
College: Shawnee State
Who I am and my Career: I graduated from
Shawnee in 2008 and since moved to the Dublin area and am
working as a dental hygienist in London. I've been running since
7th grade and have loved it ever since. To me love is like the
ocean, and running is as important as water. The two go
together well. I'm often salty after enjoying each.
I'm on facebook if you roll that way.
I'm looking for band mates, too.
Highlights: 2 time NAIA All American, NAIA
Scholar Athlete
Personal Records: 5k track - 17:54; 5k xc -

Upcoming Goals: Put a little focus on the 5k

Jessica Holder
High School: It happened a lot like the movie
Can't Hardly Wait with Jennifer Love Hewitt.
College: Denison University - what up Ashley
and Christine
Who I am and my Career: I started running in
7th grade because my parents made me do another sport
besides gymnastics, which I was obsessed with at the
time. I hated running. Fortunately, that finally changed
in high school. I ran track and cross country for
Denison University, along with Ashley and Christine. My
biggest accomplishments were winning Regionals as a team
for two years in a row and also running at the NCAA
Championships! I miss college running, but it's nice to
still be able to fulfill my competitive drive with the
CRC. My goal for this spring and summer is to find more
time in my busy schedule to make it to more races!
Highlights: Denison winning Regionals two years
in a row.

Kelley Newsad
High School: Northmont
College: Otterbein College
Who I am and my Career: I played soccer at the
OC and decided to start running after graduation.
My hottie husband is also a runner, and he hooked me on
the Jack - a.k.a. the bible. I quickly found out
that the more miles I ran and the harder I trained the
faster I got. My proudest accomplishments include
3:19:34 in my first marathon. As far as a
professional career I keep an exceptionally clean house
and work as an orthopedic physical therapist and
athletic trainer. I moved to Boston a year and a
half ago and was in the best shape of my life. However I
didn't listen to my body and tried to run with achilles
tendonitis for nine months. It ended up costing me a
year of running. I'm moving back to Cbus this summer so
hubby can go to Law School. I hope to run the Columbus
Half Marathon and the Run Ohio series in the spring of
2010. I can't wait to resume my running for the CRC and
with my girls.
Highlights: No, my hair is all natural.
Personal Records: Marathon - 3:19:34;
Half Marathon - 1:28:34; 5k - 18:43; 10k - 39:05
Upcoming Goals: Run my brains out

Quirin
High School: We think so, in Philly
College: Wesleyan University
Who I am and my Career: I am originally from
Philadelphia. Currently I am a Ph.D. student in the School of
Environment and Natural Resources at Ohio State University.
After undergrad I lived in New Zealand for 2.5 years while
completing a Master's in Wildlife Management. Cross country is
by far my favorite event, but I am looking to branch out into
road racing and longer distances. I don't have too much track
experience because I played lacrosse in high school and college,
so I'm hoping to get a few more seasons under my belt. I love
running on trails.
Highlights: Div. III NCAA Cross Country
All-American 2001 and 2004, New England Cross Country All-Region
2001-2004, ran for the Bryn Mawr Running Co. (PA) in fall of
2005 and placed 26th at USATF Club XC Nationals 2005, ran for
Hill City and the Otago regional squad in New Zealand from
2006-2008.

Upcoming Goals: Pound the earth so hard and
often that my friends in New Zealand know I'm training. |
Krista Seibert
High School: Pickerington
College: Ohio University
Who I am and my Career: I started running in
Middle School, on the track team. I learned I wasn't built to be
a long jumper which was much more appealing to me than running.
So I was put in the mile. Then the summer before my freshman
year my best friend asked if I wanted to run Cross Country. I
said "sure", having NO idea what it was. I thought it was part
of Track. At my first practice we did Fartlek's. I quit, not
returning to practice for a week. My coach came
to my house and told me he already ordered me a
team t-shirt so I felt guilty and went to
practice. Twenty years later, I have that shirt
sewn on a quilt and laugh when I realize that if
it wasn't for that shirt I wouldn't be a runner!
I went to OU and walked on the Track team my sophomore year. I don't
think I ever ran a race and the coach definitely
didn't know my name. It wasn't until after
college that I started competing and my times
dropped. I also discovered that I only have one
speed...so the longer the better!
After college I coached at Watkins Memorial
(where I discovered skinny legged 7th grader
Eric Hamner) and Pickerington High School (where
I found Elizabeth Trapp as a freshman teeny
bopper). On a side note, I was the one who found
lost Sol on the Olentangy bikepath running alone
one hot day in June of '04. When I passed him on
the trail he couldn't let a GIRL do such a thing
so he stuck to my tail until I finally started
talking to him; it took a few miles. Now look at
what he has turned into. I'm not sure that is
something to brag about...
Outside of running I teach Pre-K in Dublin. I also have 4 kids (8, 6, 6,
and 1) a dog, cat, hamster and sea monkeys. My
husband John and I often run together when we
can, but he often does kid duty so I can train!
I spend many a mile thinking about my kids and
that handsome man I married. What a guy.
Highlights:
Running a time that allowed me to be the first
American woman NOT to qualify for the Olympic
Trials!
Personal Records: 5k - 17:50; 10k - 36:28; Half
- 1:21:09; Marathon - 2:47:15.

Jamie Sims
High School: Northmont
College: Otterbein College
Who I am and my Career: I played soccer at
Otterbein with my sister, Kelley. I began running shortly
after, and found that I enjoyed that as well. Perhaps my
best running accomplishments were completing my first marathon
and qualifying for Boston with my sister and running a five
minute PR in the half to qualify for the CRC Red Team. I
also managed to PR this past Boston Marathon, something I'm
proud of. On the side I tend to keep it real.

Liz Trapp
High School: Pickerington
College: Ohio University
Who I am and my Career: Let me tell you about
Liz. That's me! Liz loves to talk in the third person. Liz truly
got into endurance sports through the ironman. The biking,
swimming, running - like buying a bag of chicken with legs,
breasts, and wings all included. After a while Liz's focus
turned primarily to running. Perhaps it was all the work she did
at the CRC as the store manager. Perhaps it was the fact that
she had less time to train for it all in grad school - which she
still does by the way! It could've been the way a certain
other runner looked at her when I ran. The tingling in her spine
said it all! Some things are just right. Like the way
butter melts on your pancake. Speaking of pancakes, if you
need to find Liz a good place to look is the Surly Girl.
