Mike
Aldrink
Mike currently resides in German Village
and shops at that Kroger's on Front St. During the day he's a
principal at a local charter school, while in the evenings he
plays father to the new addition to the family, Elena. If
you see a baby jogger rolling past you at 6 minute pace along
the Olentangy that's probably Mike.
Career highlights: A. Has won multiple
marathons, with a PR of 2:29.
B. Married his surgeon wife Jennie, she has magical hands.
C. Joined team CRC.
Personal Records: Marathon - 2:29.
Best running moment: Being bitten by a
potentially rabid mountain dog at mile 17 in the 2006
Hatfield-McCoy marathon. Underwent rabies treatments, and now I
have this twitch that won't go away.
My real best running moment: Placing 3rd
in the 2007 Krispy Kreme Challenge in Raleigh North
Carolina. Ran 2 miles, ate 12 donuts, and ran 2 miles
back in 28:14.
An actual goal: Better my current 2:29 P.R. in the
marathon and join some of my teammates in an Olympic
marathon trials. |

B-Master loves languages, Latin, ladies,
and Lancaster, which is where he currently resides. He
isn't afraid of a challenge, even when he fails. His focus
is more on the shorter distances, and he looks forward to
tearing up on the road in '09. He was also part of the
magical trip to Spokane for team CRC for Club Nationals in 2009.

There is a fine
line between love and addiction, and I'm not sure which side of
the line running falls for me. I enjoy keeping my PR's current
but the main focus is the marathon. It's the natural event for
someone who simply likes to run a lot, sometimes fast. I
am fortunate that my smart and pretty wife Rachael enjoys
running, so we are on the same page when it comes to dedicating
time to it. Even our dog Abebe loves to hit the pavement.
As for working at the CRC, I hope it continues to grow and we
are able to truly benefit the running population at all levels.
The potential is so much greater than simply being a business.
High School: Olentangy
College: DePauw University
Career Highlights: Anytime I PR in the
marathon, really. The last being Chicago '08 with a 2:31. Also,
being captain of a DIII National qualifying team at DPU. I
will also never forget when Ritz talked trash to me during an 8k
XC race in Cincy.
Personal Records: Marathon - 2:31:34 Chicago
'08; 10k - 32:29; Steeple - 9:30; 5k - 15:22
Upcoming Goals: Get healthy and break 2:30 in
the marathon. |
Eric
Hamner
I was born
in raised in Pataskala, OH and always played sports and it
turned out that I was best at running so it stuck. I ran CC
three years of HS at Watkins Memorial, where we got 11th, 5th, and 6th in
the state as a team, and ran track all 4 years under
coaches Marty Dahlman and John Jarvis. I then proceeded
on to Tiffin University to help them build a program
there. I was a 4 time national qualifier there under
Coach Jeremy Croy and the legendary Scott Fry. The
steeplechase seemed to be my best event as that is the
only event I qualified to NCAA nationals in, placing a
disappointing 10th. The program has continued
to be competitive and is now 10 times the size it was
when I was a freshman there. Go Dragons! I have since
coached at Neosho County Community College in Southeast
Kansas for a short stint, been an assistant coach for
Ohio State the year they finished 11th in the
nation in cross, coached at Heidelberg College where
they finished 20th in the nation and had the
fastest freshman in the Division III event making him
All-American. I now coach at Johnstown High School and teach at
Watkins Memorial HS giving back what was given to me and we are
having a blast and making great improvements. Running
wise, I have continued to run since college and was lucky enough
to stumble upon the great guys at Columbus Running Co. whom
allowed me to join their team. I have run a few marathons, my
fastest being at Grandma’s marathon (2:25) in Duluth, MN on a
hot day. God has given me the ability to run and I am now in
pursuit of praising God when I compete for all he has given me.
1 Corinthians
9:24-25 - 24Do
you not know that in a race all the runners run, but
only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the
prize. 25Everyone who competes in the
games goes into strict training. They do it to get a
crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown
that will last forever. 26Therefore I do not
run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a
man beating the air. 27No, I beat my body and
make it my slave so that after I have preached to
others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.

Jim Jurcevich
Jim is the king of yard sports on the CRC team,
boasting both Horseshoes and Yolf capabilities within his
backyard. Multiple happy hours over the years with his
lawyer wife have given him the unique capability of enjoying
a few beers around 4 or 5pm, and minutes later hitting the
road for a tempo run. He is an accomplished runner with
great accolades ranging from the 5k to marathon, from being
an original Hanson to a stint on the U.S. Half marathon team
for the World half-marathon championships. He takes credit
for molding
young Josh Ordway into a CRC beast. Jordivich. Jim is a believer in putting in many miles. Then more
miles. Then some more. We think he's on to something.
High School: Defiance, OH
College: Michigan State University

Dave Mars
Dave has a wonderful
wife named Sarah, and two kids with just as much energy as
himself. This guy does his best training between the hours of
5am and 7am, before even the birds start chirping. He drives an
'87 Chevette. He moonlights at the CRC Westerville shop as a
part-time employee, and usually brings the family. He loves to
run the Akron Marathon. As an ESL teacher, Mars even knows some
Swahili. Sometimes he'll make pancakes on a griddle in his front
yard and feed his neighbors. His poker face leaves much to be
desired, which is why we like him cause it's easy to tell what
he is thinking.

Dave Mealy
Dave
recently made his way down here from North East Ohio, where he
left a pretty woman and half his heart. We hope she
continues to come visit him and eventually makes the move, cause
the more runners in Central Ohio the better. Dave made a
name for himself while out in Spokane as part of team CRC's
expedition for club XC. What do cage dancing and
tumbleweed have in common? Dave Mealy.

Josh Ordway
I grew up in a very
small town in northwest Ohio. Jim Jurcevich's high
school is actually in my school's conference, one
town to the west. He was a senior when I was an
eighth grader, and as a multi-time state champ he
was my hero growing up…just don't tell him I said
that. I'm the oldest of 4 kids, all of us runners.
I've experienced some success with running for as
long as I've been doing it. In 7th grade I ran a
4:48 1600 in my conference meet. At 16, I was the
15-16 USATF Junior Olympic national cross country
champion. I ran 9:30 in the 3200 as a sophomore. I
was the 1998 Div. III cross country state champion,
then I got hurt my senior track season.
Because of my grades and my running, Princeton
recruited and accepted me. I experienced only
minimal success there, as I never figured out the
best way for me to train for longer distances. I did
have a few decent races, running 8:57,
14:40, and 30:27 and graduated with a degree in
Economics.
The next year I took
pre-med classes at OSU and trained with the
Buckeyes. After that, I began working at Riverside's
outpatient Pharmacy and training on my own to pick
up some petty cash at surrounding road races. At the
5 miler in Worthington in 2004, I met Jim for the
first time.
After the Cap City Half in 2005 I signed on with the
CRC and shortly thereafter began training with
Jim. Over the next year Jim molded me into the CRC
marathon man I am today, posting times of 2:15 at
Austin and 2:17 at Chicago. Now I am a medical
student at Wright State University, trying to
balance my studies and running. I try to make it
back to Columbus periodically to hang with my CRC
brethren because if I stay away too long I start to
get the shakes.
High School: Hogate, OH
College: Princeton University '03

Eric Putnam
Erocky is the one with the bushy hair and
crazy shorts. He coaches down at Shawnee State University, and
many of his students come out much improved and hungry for more
running. You'll be lined up for your next 5k and all of a
sudden this guy will come bouncing out of the bushes and put the
hammer down from the gun. How can you not enjoy that? He'll mix
it up on the track and lead the way on the roads. Eric puts on a
semi-annual road race of his own, the Shawnee State Bear run,
which CRC highly recommends. He, his wife Krista, and son
Charles reside in Portsmouth.
High School: Chillicothe, OH
College: Ohio University

Track 1500 meter MAC champion; Bear Run champ about 10 times.

Nate Ritz
I started running in middle
school, just track. Times were blazing, 7:00 for an all out
mile. My sister, Stacey really got me interested in running
because I would go watch her do awesome at all of her
meets. My best friend, Jesse Rhodenbaugh was also a great
runner and the high school coach was awesome, so I decided
to give XC a try once high school came around. I was
not the best at other sports so I figured that running thing
might work. Freshman year at Talawanda my PR for 5k was 20:10.
I worked a bit more each year and got that to a 17:13 my
senior year at the district meet. I got my track PR's in
H.S. to 4:43 mi and 10:17 2 mi. I came to Otterbein
because I
really liked the team and Coach Borland/Lehman. Glad I went and I
began to develop more as a runner once I ran in college.
After college I wasn't ready to give it up, so the CRC was a
perfect fit. Running seems to be a big part of my life now
and I enjoy trying to stay in shape.
I finished up at Otterbein in the fall of '05 and currently
teach at the elementary level just north of Columbus. The
plan is to keep teaching and to someday be a high school xc
coach. I'm trying to stay competitive for a while before I
decide to hang up the shoes and become a body builder.
In the summers I work for my Dad @ Little Miami Canoe Rental in Morrow/Oregonia,
Ohio (near King's Island). Send me an email if you
want to run sometime.

runner for Wartburg. He's got turnover and likes to show it off.

is our department of defense connection who gives us the heads
up as to where the CIA is or will be. He's not afraid to
tell you how it is, but isn't afraid to roll with it if it is
not. An outsider may not always understand, but to know is
not the point. Rather it's the realization that is essence of
being. Whether or not that same realization is fact in the real
sense is not as important. It is within this understanding
that you'll find a smaller scope of Dustin Whitehair.
