Pre-Fall 2005
Congrats to Josh Ordway-
your new RRCA Half-Marathon National Champion!
Summer '05
Aaron Rowe - Cruised to a win in 14:55 at the John Barr Bexley 5k
on July 4th. Making an appearance at the famed CRC Mile Dash Anniversary
Bash Rowe's left pectoral just out-leaned Josh at the line for a second
place finish in 4:13. That speed work prepped him for a blistering 24:10
at the Jonnycake Jog 5 Mile near Cleveland. Hot Hot Hot.
Josh Ordway - This kid has been on a tear all summer. A 14:51 5k
at the Standard Federal Bank Reeds Lake Run in Michigan put Ordway a
respectable 8th place. At Cincinatti's July 4th Hyde Park Blast 4
Mile the Ordmiester finished 3rd in 19:38. After a 3rd place 4:13 mile
at the historic CRC Mile Dash Anniversary Bash race a rivalry was born
between Josh and Rowe's left pectoral. The Jonnycake Jog 5 Mile saw the
Ordmanananaman cross the line in 8th, 24:36. Not done yet, the
Ordmonsterino found himself hit a new PR in Wheeling's Debbie Green
Memorial 5k with a smoking 14:39. The Ordmanimal decided the next
morning, in a secret attempt to impress a nice young lady, to run and
win Worthington's Gary Smith Classic. Win he did. As for the young lady,
only time will tell....
Jim Jurcevich - With a stride that spans the length of two men Jim
has been pounding the big miles all summer. At the Standard Federal Bank
Reeds Lake Run in Michigan Jim competed in the 10k, clocking a strong
31:53 to finish 8th. The performance was followed by a hasty 20:22 at
the Hyde Park Blast. Jim then decided to crank the turnover wheels at
the always wildly thrilling CRC Mile Dash Anniversary Bash, clocking an
impressive 4:32 over a distance 1/26th of his normal expertise.
Jonnycake Jog netted a nice 25:15 for our lanky hero, which he followed
up with a 15:30 5k in the West Virginia gem, Wheeling. Jim's last race
of this report also marks a first. Although Jim ran a smooth 25 and
change at the Gary Smith Classic in Worthington, he fell short of
defeating the merciless Ordway, marking a year to the day since Jim was
last able to say, "Josh finished behind me."
Jenn Ernst - She hasn't seen much action this summer, save one
week in July. She trumped her age-group at the Westerville Rotary Run on
the 4th, and couldn't resist the monumental CRC Mile Dash, spending six
minutes and 14 seconds striding her way through the mean Dublin streets.
Mike Korir - Ran an impressive 2:20 at Grandma's Marathon, but felt
he could have done better. That night he tore up the dance floor, and
the next weekend he danced his way to a 14:10 5k at the Standard
Federal Bank Reeds Lake Run. At the Hyde Park Blast 4 miler he took it
down to the wire before just getting edged out at the line,
finishing 2nd and clocking a 19:05. Primed for a national caliber event,
Mike turned his attention to the CRC Mile Dash Anniversary Dash, a race
so short and quick it made the Kenyan native's laces quiver. Never the
less, he topped the field with a 4:11. Soon Mike again found himself in
a tar melting battle at the Jonnycake Jog 5 mile, in which he finished a
close second in a mind boggling 23:34. Scorching.
Ruth Biwott - In her debut race in the states, she clocked a quick
36:32 10k and 6th place finish at the Reeds Lake Run in Michigan. Her
first victory came at the Hyde Park Blast 4 miler with a 22:48. She made
it two for two and the much heralded, and unparalleled, CRC Mile Dash
Anniversary Bash - winning in 5:05. Up at Jonnycake 5 it was 3 for 3,
27:27, and a streak was born. In Wheeling the wheels of the streak fell
off, but Ruth still ran an impressive 16:55 for the 5k.
Nate Ritz - Debuted in the CRC jersey at Hyde Park, running a
respectable 21:36 to finish 11th.
Justin Mock - The accountant turned ultra-marathoner most recently
clocked a solid 17:10 at the Irish Fest 5k, flashing peace signs
throughout the final straightaway. The local timing company, so
enthralled with the finish, dropped his time 40 seconds to 16:29 in the
results. We give Mock the benefit of the doubt.
Matt DeLeon - Giving it a go with some shorter races, Matt popped a
15:49 for a win at the Westerville Rotary Run on the 4th, his first race
of the summer. Due to the fact that he has to write novels for the store
team website, this season has only seen him return to racing once more,
a lackluster, but enjoyable, 5th place finish at the Gary Smith 5 Miler,
26:30.
Eric Fruth - The store team fantasy football team champ is
prepping for a return to glory in the upcoming season. On the running
front, early in the summer Eric returned to his winning ways at the
Upper Arlington 5 miler with a 26:12 adventure. The Irish Fest saw the
Brazilian Million lead much of the race, only to be out paced to the
line. A 15:56 and a second place finish left him hungry for
action....what results will the next CRC store team report reveal?
Spring '05
Aaron Rowe - Congrats on a new PR on the track at Jesse Owens- an
8:13.8! He also recently finished 27th in the USATF 8k National
Championships.
Josh Ordway - After winning the Cap. City Half, he had a strong
performance on his return to the track at Jesse Owens, a 9:03 steeple!
Jim Jurcevich - A 67:29 half marathon and 11th place finish in
the Indianapolis Mini-Marathon- not long after finishing 2nd in the Cap.
City Half.
Matt DeLeon - A strong 2:32.10 and 3rd place finish at the
Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon.
Eric Fruth - Good to see him in the racing flats again, running
up front finishing first in Dublin's own "Here's looking at you, kid" 5k
and the Scioto River Classic downtown.
Winter '04-'05
Welcome to the team Jim Jurcevich, Justin Mock, and Josh
Ordway!
Josh and Jim recently went 1-2 in the Capital City half marathon
blizzard fest. Although Josh took top honors, it was Jim who ran a
smarter race- as he wore an extra layer of runderwear. Congrats on a
great race to them both! Matt was a little ways behind, finishing 5th.
Aaron turned in a solid performance at the U.S. 8k champs in N.Y.,
finishing 31st with a time of 24:18.
In Feb. Matt made a desperate attempt at reliving his college
days, running a 15:37 5k at a DePauw University indoor meet.
Aaron, Matt, and Justin also made appearances in the Fantastic Frigid
5k's, going 1-2-3 in the second race. In the first race, Matt was edged
out at the line and finished second, while Justin was a snowy 7th.
