The 26th Annual 15 Mile and 3 Mile Runs.
January 27th, Pickerington
1pm (15M) and 1:15pm (3M)
The
winter tradition continues with the 27th annual running of the
Winter Run. The 15 Miler and 3 Miler are put on to benefit the
Columbus Road Runners, a local not-for-profit running club. It
might be cold, but it’ll be fun! Hot soup available from
Crater’s, along with other food, will be available at the
finish. Multiple water stations and a gel station will be
available on the course, and we’re opening up the high school
locker room at the finish of the race for those looking for a
hot shower.
All registrants receive a pair of moisture wicking CRRC
socks. Awards are given to the top five male and female
finishers in the 3 miler, and the 15 miler awards the top 3 men
& women overall finishers as well as the top 2 in each age
group.
Packet pick-up is available at the CRC-Pickerington the week
prior to the race.

up there.
January 19th and February 2nd, 10:15am.
Concord Park, just north of
CRC-Dublin
Think you’ve got what it
takes to be a chilly champion? Leave the treadmill behind &
meet us at the frozen tundra of Concord Park, just north of
Dublin, for the Fantastic Frigid 5k’s!
There will be music playing, hot dogs & hot chocolate aplenty, and 5k
worth of fun ahead. All registrants for a single race receive a
Frigid 5k coffee mug or a Brooks water bottle, and those who
pre-register for both races will receive a tech t-shirt to add
to the layers of clothing you’ll be wearing for the race!
Prize money is available for the top three male & female finishers, and
edible age group awards will be given out as well. $40 CRC shoe
gift certificates also go to the winners of the series
challenge, for those who can complete both races atop their age
group.
Pre-race packet pickup is available at either CRC location the week prior
to each race.

In
an effort to aid local charity road races and events, the crew
at the CRC has founded the CRC Charity Fund. The board for this
501c3 not-for-profit group consists of several of the race
directors from the CRC’s many events.
At the CRC, our number one goal is to support the local running community
and the events that benefit it. Charity road races are a
positive aspect of this running scene. A good charity event can
benefit the running & walking community while creating a
memorable experience for all of its participants. We are more
than willing to volunteer to support a charity race by any means
possible, as long as both the running & walking community and
the charity benefit. Not only do the CRC owners volunteer at
these events, our CRC Blue Team helps out as well. Many of the
events on our 2008 calendar are charity events that the CRCCF
will be hosting. We hope to make a difference in 2008 & we’ll
see you all at an event in the new year!

Lace up those shoes and
come join us for a run! As always, the CRC is offering
free group runs, a chance for you to come meet fellow
runners and to put some miles in together. Runners of
all abilities are welcome! Run as far or as fast as you
like, we’ll have the store open for you afterwards with
water, coffee, and the occasional snack.
Saturdays at 8am
- This is our main group run, and the Sat run goes on
year-round, regardless of weather. Saturdays are all
about putting some extra miles in to kick the weekend
off.
Mondays at 8pm -
This is a smaller run, for those quicker runners looking
to get some quality miles in with other competitive
runners. The coming winter nights make this one tough,
but it’s all part of the Trials of Miles, right?
Speedwork - Our
Wednesday afternoon track workouts have gone into
hibernation. The speed work sessions will come back out
in the spring, so don’t be waiting for us at the track
in the cold! |

When you swing by the CRC during the month of January,
say hi to our annual business intern, Nate Ellis. Every
January, the CRC hosts an intern from DePauw University,
Matt & Eric’s alma mater. We teach ‘em the ropes of
owning & operating a business, CRC-style. Mostly, that
means a lot of running, Brazenhead burgers, and
newsletter folding. Stop by to test Nate’s shoe IQ
while he’s still in town! Give him a hard time, because
we find that funny.

Two CRC-sponsored runners competed in the Olympic Trials
to take a shot at making the team for the US in Beijing
this coming summer. Held in NYC, the Trials were the
focus of the Big Apple’s attentions the day before the
annual NYC Marathon. Congrats to Josh Ordway and Jim
Jurcevich for qualifying to earn a spot on the starting
line with the nation’s best!
This past December, the CRC hosted the US Cross
Country Club Nationals. A USATF event, the National
Championships featured open and masters competition.
Former NCAA stars toed the line alongside Olympians and
local standouts. 1200 of the top runners from across
the nation competed for top honors at the Voice of
America Park, down near King’s Island. In the end, the
CRC’s open men’s team placed 9th out of 50 teams. Way
to go guys! The CRC women came in at 27th.
Next up for the team is the indoor track season & a
few winter cross country and road races. Good luck to
everyone! |
