The CRC program is tailored for the individual -
whether you are a beginner or experienced athlete looking to improve.
We've partnered with Reebok and John Bingham Racing to provide you the
best tools for success!
The training program includes:
- A training program
designed for you, whether you are a walker, run/walker, or runner of any ability. The
training schedules are personalized, as attention to the individual's
goals and background is of highest priority. The CRC is not an advocate
of one-size fits all generic group training plans, therefore each
program is tailored specifically to each person on a day-to-day basis.
- Kick-off party,
Wed. Jan 9th at 6:45pm (Dublin) and Thurs. Jan 10th at
6:45pm (Pickerington). First group run will be Sat. January 12th.
Come hungry on Wed. or Thurs. and
energetic on Saturday. If you are new to the CRC, we will use the kick
off party
as an opportunity to set some individual goals and learn more of your
background. This is important as we structure each individual's plan
differently.
- Free Reebok "'08 CRC
Training" technical t-shirt. You'll look almost as
good as you'll feel at the finish line. While supplies last, you'll
also get a Cap. City "In Training" shirt when you sign up.

- Clinics led by CRC coaches
and other experts in their fields - such as nutrition. Topics cover cross training, nutrition, mental
preparation, shoes and apparel, and individual race day strategy-
including video footage and course run down. Due to the volume and time
of the clinics, we no longer are having them on Saturday with the 'long
run', but will schedule them during the week.
- One free day per week of
the program for cross training at Pulse Fitness in Dublin or World Gym
in Pickerington, each located very close to CRC. If you would like to expand your cross training horizon,
these gyms can help! Not only will you have weekly access to the
facilities, we'll have contacts at each, available for advice.
This service is free with the program.
- 10% off everything in the
store during the program.
- Weekly email with advice and any items you
may have missed the previous week. |
|
- The CRC utilizes an online
training log at www.logarun.com.
This is optional, but we encourage program participants to take
advantage - it's easy! The running log allows you to keep track of what
you like privately or publicly - everything from mileage, cross training,
shoe wear, weight, resting heart rate, and more! Perhaps the best
feature of the program is the ability for the coach(es) to have access
to the log and write back to the individual on a daily basis.
- On-course meeting point on
the day of the Cap. City races.
Other Points of Interest
- Saturday at 8am is group long run day. We'll
head out from the stores onto a marked path around the miles and miles
of Dublin bike paths or the |
 |
|
neighborhoods of Pickerington. For the longer runs,
water and gels (you'll learn to love these) will be available. We will
stretch and keep warn inside the stores.
- Cost of the program is $65
or $40, and that does not include entry into the event.
“By discovering your limitations and then
overcoming them, you can learn to be your own hero.”
-John Bingham
If you are training for a separate event, let us know and we can tailor the plan for
you!
Here is a quote from one who completed a previous training
program:
When I first
started, my goal was to run 30 seconds at a time,
alternating with walking. I was happy to accomplish
that and every time I increased the amount of time I
was able to run I was thrilled. Before long it was
minutes, and when I ran for the first time for 1/2
hour ~ I was so happy with myself. I still feel
that way. Every time I run a little further, or a
little faster, it inspires me to want to do it
again. When I finish a run and I am tired and
sometimes sore ~ the first thing I start to think
about is how I'll do tomorrow . . .
It seems like
everything else I do is for someone else ~ I'm a
wife, a mother, an employee . . . but running is all
about me. No one else knows or cares if I go out to
run or not, how far I go or how hard I work at it.
Only me. I feel like running has given me so much ~
better health (well except for sore knees!), peace
of mind, challenges . . . that's what inspires me to
want to run.
Of course,
having you guys there with ready encouragement and
support doesn't hurt! I would have NEVER guessed
I'd be able to run a half-marathon a year ago.
Thanks so much for helping to boost my
self-confidence ~ truly I would not have entered the
half-marathon if I hadn't wandered in to your store
back in January!
