Frigid 5k's Race 2 - Results

One fine day, a calm layer of fog blanketed the snow-covered fields of
Concord Park as the first curve of orange sun edged its way over the
eastern-most treeline. Footprints, man and animal alike, were strewn
across the fields in all different directions. Each one held a story of
times past, and the curious sense that something new was about to
happen. As the fog began to dissipate into the spawning daylight, the
bustle of the day began to grow- the birds' songs grew louder, and
nearby chimneys began to trickle smoke. Just then old
Bess, the Columbus Running Company store truck,
wheeled its way up into the park and next to a field. Not just any
field, but the field which held the start of the 2nd Fantastic Frigid
5k. Two people filed out, set up a stereo, and began to go to work. The
sun kept rising, shedding its orange coat for a beaming yellow that
bounced off the snow- and one by one people began to come. Nobody knows
why exactly they were drawn to this fantastic frigid 5k, but an unspoken
bond held them together at the starting line- and with a twitch of the
thumb the starter blew a horn- and they were off! Some ran together,
some pushed their limits alone over the snow, ice, gravel, and grass.
Weaving in and out of the fields and woods each made their way to the
finish. Tonight you can go to that park, and it will be empty. But look
at the ground and you will see the very footprints of these fine people
who toed the line that morning. A fine day it was indeed, and a fine
promise of what lies ahead.
