March 2009 Tat of the Month Daniel Hodson - Ladies man of Swarthmore Daniel Hodson. Remember that name. This month he goes down in history as the young man who upped the ante in CRC tat lore. Not only did he win the Tat of the month contest, he inspired many women to get their own tats as well! Well those are temporary, but it's a step in the right direction. Swarthmore pay attention. Put this guy in charge of making the recruiting brochures. Daniel actually contacted us before he got his tattoo- just to make sure that it wouldn't disrupt his running routine. Dedication to training is essential. We left that conversation on for those wondering the same thing... "I am senior cross country/ track runner at Swarthmore College, and I saw your Tattoo of the Month page. I'm thinking of getting a small (no bigger than 2in X 2in) tattoo on my right, lateral thigh so it will be just visible below my running shorts. Actually, the design of the tattoo is my email signature. But, I don't want to have to take any time off, and obviously if I had to choose between getting a cool tattoo and running fast, I'd choose running fast. I was wondering, based on all the tattoo experience your club had, if you could tell me if you think getting a tattoo on the leg will necessitate my to take any time off, or inhibit my ability to do workouts, race, etc. " Our response (we always suggest you are open and ask your artist lots of questions!): Good question, Daniel. The tattoo in that location shouldn't require you to take any time off. We suggest running before your appointment, however. Don't forget, too, that in reality, chances are your tattoo will actually make you faster. The psychological boost you get from being a badass is immeasurable. Plus, judging by your pictures, you'll have many women cheering for on the track giving you a boost. However don't forget that it is essential in your tattoo's early days to stay removed from the sun, or protected with sunscreen. Also, don't late your fame get to you. Although you now have ladies hanging all over you, remember to get your recovery sleep rather than partying every night with the coeds. It wasn't long before we got this email from Daniel: "Hey
Matt, I emailed you guys several weeks ago whether getting a tattoo on
the leg would interfere with running at all. We've gotten the tats and
it was no problem. Also, I would say getting the tat felt like
acupuncture with stim, which some runners (myself included) may have
experienced already.
Congrats to Daniel on earning some fine CRC merchandise. Do you want to be the running tat of the month? Send us a picture at info@columbusrunning.com or stop by the store. Please let us know why, how, and when you got the tattoo... Tat of the Month Archive
