MAY RUNNING TAT OF THE MONTH

Brandon Bauer is only the third central Ohio champion to grace the famed pages of the tat of the month contest. It's so fresh (May, 2006) it probably still stings. Fittingly enough, he chose to get his tat from Evolved, the finest body art studio in the universe. "I chose Evolved because I had seen a lot of the work at their other establishment Skin FX, and was very pleased," said Bauer. "I had heard a lot of good things about Evolved, so I decided I might as well give it a shot after seeing some of the artists works." As a standout runner from Reynoldsburg, Brandon now applies his trade at Ashland University for both the cross and track teams.

As for the design, the classic winged foot stands out among the dark stripes. "I decided that I wanted to throw something else in with the shoe. I played around with some ideas, and I decided I like the 5 dark stripes the best, as it does remind me of a track."  Perhaps the new tat will bring an edge on his upcoming season.

"I got it as a motivator for training and improved racing," says Brandon. Bauer and the Ashland men's squad have high hopes for the upcoming season. "We've got a great team coming up this year with hopes of a good place at nationals. We will be returning the 3rd, 4th, and 9th fastest freshman from the Great Lakes region, as well as a big dog who was a red-shirt last year, and 13th overall as a Sophomore in the region." As it turns out, a few of the guys on the team have tat's of their own.

"I actually have a team mate Jeremy Trein who also has a fantastic Polynesian original tattoo sporting the words "Mana Loa" hiding within plants and vines. It's definitely killer for the style, especially since he drew it. Other than that, some guys sport the Eagle on the thigh."

 "I'm very pleased with how it turned out." So are we, Brandon. Here's to years of motivation and many summers of strong training.
