In depth and personalized form and gait analysis now offered at Accelerated Rehab!
What is Dartfish?
Dartfish is movement analysis software which allows for the assessment of running mechanics to determine
musculoskeletal imbalances and impaired form. Video analysis allows your physical therapist (PT) to
determine the best individualized exercise program as well as real-time video feedback during running.
This allows you to modify your running form instantly, thus decreasing injury risk and improving efficiency.
How Dartfish Can Help Runners
50-75% of runners will lose at least 1 week of training due to a running injury (Kaufman 1999) and ~65%
experience an injury annually from training errors and/or poor biomechanics. Generalized strengthening alone
has not been shown to improve running mechanics, but gait retraining using video feedback has been shown to
carry over to improved running form.
Dartfish Running Assessments at Accelerated Rehabilitation in Powell
Your trained physical therapist will video you running on a treadmill from various angles using a high
speed camera and Dartfish software. Analysis includes slow motion assessment of foot strike, amount of
pronation, hip/knee position, trunk control, as well as step length and cadence. By analyzing these key
components of your running gait, your PT can screen for injury risk factors, treat current injuries, and
improve overall running performance.
How to Schedule Your Individualized Running Assessment
Call Accelerated Rehabilitation in Powell at (614) 791-0700 or email Kelley Newsad, PT at
kelley.newsad@acceleratedrehab.com to schedule a PT evaluation and/or Dartfish Running Analysis.
There are two different services available to runners:
1. As a Patient: In the state of Ohio, potential patients have Direct Access to Physical Therapy services
which are covered by most insurance plans. If you have joint or muscle pain, you can be evaluated and treated
by a PT without requiring a physician referral. Your PT will perform a comprehensive musculoskeletal
evaluation, use Dartfish software to analyze your running form, develop an individualized home exercise
program, and utilize real-time video feedback during visits to correct impaired form. These services will
be billed to your insurance company.
2. As a Client: We are also offering a cash rate for potential clients who want their running form analyzed,
but do not need physical therapy. For $150 you receive a musculoskeletal screen, an extremely comprehensive
running analysis using Dartfish software, instruction in a personalized home exercise program to address any
deficits found, a follow up analysis, and personalized media book (CD).
